I’d like to wish my son a very happy 14th birthday! I love you with all my heart!!!!
I took my son out recently to practice riding his new skateboard. This should prove to be a very interesting process. Stay tuned to find out what happens…
The weather has started to warm up and I like most people have been out enjoying it. I spent last weekend with my family at the local marina meeting new people and watching all the families playing in the sun. One of the more fun moments of that outing was when the families, and more specifically the children were feeding the birds. For some it was their first time both feeding and being so close to all the different birds. The reactions were priceless! One particular moment stood out, and that’s what I’ve decided to shared today. A very friendly and energetic grandmother was teaching her equally excited granddaughter how to feed the ducks. It was a touching site to just watch the two of them interact with one another. As a photographer I live to capture these moments but, as a person I live to experience them as well.
Happy Birthday to my beautiful and talented niece!!! I love you!!!
My Granny curiously watched me as I walked into the house, sat my bag down, unzipped the pouch, and took out my camera. She watched intensely as I removed the lens cap, then unscrewed the protective filter. She nervously stared at me as I approached her with my camera and after raising the the lens in her direction she quickly yelled, “I look a mess today, please don’t take my picture right now son!” Being the hard-headed child that I am I proceeded to snap anyway. Embarrassed, she looked right at me and asked, “why are you taking my picture?” I answered, “because, you’re beautiful and I love you!” Then I said, “I need these pictures to pass down to all the future generations of our family” “They need to know who the Queen of this family is” She smiled shyly then said, “ok son, go ahead” She has always spoiled me… She always lets me have my way and I’m happy that she does 🙂 This is real love!
Could you figure out what it was? Well, it’s actually an abstract shot of my children hugging. Taken about 2 years ago to test my new camera and lens, this was the very first shot with my new gear. I was so impressed with the amount of detail in the file I decided to keep it. Later I grew to appreciate the emotional value of the image. Although my children very rarely get into any type of fight or disagreement, I thought it was a particularly genuine moment where they shared a very sweet embrace with one another. It’s kind of hard to decipher because there’s so much hair in the shot but, that’s exactly why I love it! It just goes to show that sometimes the photos we dislike or maybe think very little of at first can eventually turn out to be some of our most cherished. I’m so happy I decided to keep it! ❤
The more my son ages the more I see him as a miniature version of myself. He is starting to become a direct reflection of me as a teenager. Watching this transformation as both a parent and observer is quite amazing…it entrigues me, while making me happy and sad at the same time. I’m very curious as to how much more we will have in common and how much he will differ from me as he grows into an adult and fully develops his own personality? I will continue to try and document this process in the hopes that he will someday look back at it all with his own children and appreciate my effort to catalogue his development as a person created in my own image.
A personal look at my cousin as we discuss his plans for his next album. This photo was taken about 2 weeks ago while I was on a photo excursion back home in Illinois.
My younger brother Antonio stood perfectly still while I captured the downpour of snowfall while out on a photo excursion this past week. We hadn’t seen snow in almost 7 years so we played in the snow like two big kids and we had a ball! You’re never too old to enjoy the simple joys of life. Go out and have some fun!!!
She’s growing up so fast!!!! I’m both happy and sad… These were taken last year around the time she was to compete in her first beauty pageant. I think it’s time I make her take some new ones? Hahahahaha!!!!

You are just as beautiful today as you were the day we met! Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! I LOVE YOU!!!!!
I Took My Kids Out To The Downtown Area Yesterday To Check Out The New Zip Line Opening And We Ended Up Staying Out There For Hours. It Was So Nice! The Weather Started Off A Little Hot But Turned Out To Be Great After It Rained. I Took A Few Pics And Met Some Very Cool People While Down There Too.
At The End Of The Trip Look Who Showed Up? Their Mommy! They Were Happy To See Her So I Took A Picture Of Them All To Capture The Moment. These Shots Weren’t Planned, They Just Happened To Be Standing There In What I Thought Was Nice Light So I Told Them All To Look At Me And Snapped 1 Or 2 Pics. We Stayed A Little While Longer To Enjoy The Excellent Breeze But Had To Leave To Go To Dinner. It’s Getting Harder And Harder To Get Them Together In A Pic As The Kids Get Older (Teenagers!!!) But I Thought This Time They All Looked So Sweet!!! Happy Times…
I forgot to post this picture of my special ice cream birthday cake from yesterday that my wonderful kids got for me. It was butter-pecan ice cream and chocolate cake…mmmm! I love my family so much!!!! Thanks kids!!!!
Happy Birthday my sweet angel!!!! I LOVE you with all my heart Ameera!!!!
Happy Birthday to the Matriarch, my Grandmother Mrs. Emma Orsborn! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!
Happy Birthday to my son Prince Naseem! I love you!!!
Hello everyone! Today I’d like to share a few candid portraits of a man embracing his baby while outdoors on a cold afternoon. While out shooting randomly with my Aunt I noticed this man and his family trying to enjoy themselves despite the brisk weather. When I approached them I noticed the piercing dark eyes of the baby, so I moved in close to try and focus in on them. Just as I moved in to take the shot the father embraced his child and held him tightly to shield him from a strong burst of cold wind. The baby looked at me very inquisitively as I pointed my camera in his direction and snapped a few frames . Once the father realized what I was doing he graciously allowed me to shoot a few more shots of his entire family. They were very nice people, and the encounter reaffirms exactly why I love photography. Meeting nice, interesting people with open minds that allow us to do what we love without issue. Very spontaneous and fun!
I know I’m a few months late but, here are a few more shots from a shoot I entitled “The Gathering” back in October. I know these geese and ducks usually avoid human contact unless we’re feeding them but, for some reason they were attracted to this man and his granddaughter. In fact, so many started to arrive and surround them that they had to get up and walk away. I was just happy that I actually had my camera with me to capture it. This set of photos are some of my favorite from this year. It’s because of the spontaneity of the moment as well as the child’s reaction. I love genuine moments!
Just a quick shot of my daughter outside taking a leisurely stroll while enjoying the beautiful, warm December weather with me.
A quick family portrait I shot of my good model friend Vanessa Cobb, boyfriend Fred Howard, and puppy Armani.
Happy Veterans Day to everyone! Thank you to all former and active members of the United States military for all of your bravery, commitment and sacrifice. You are greatly appreciated!
Today I’d like to share another image that I was fortunate enough to capture while back home in July of this year. While out revisiting and introducing my son to the old fishing hole my father took me to as I child I was able to capture this shot of the 2 of them taking a break. My son was so happy that he decided to show his love for his grandfather without saying a single word. It was a very touching and special moment. A moment that I’m very happy to have had my camera for because, these are the times that you wish you could freeze, look back on and smile. Luckily we all can now. Tell someone you care about you love them today!
Kayakers, couples and families call it a day as they head for the exit at the local white water rafting park.
Here’s a random throwback from 2005 featuring my youngest brother Antonio. We were on an Amtrak train in Chicago en route to UIC University so that he could give me a tour of his school. I had a great time!!! I really wish I could have attended college but, I’m very happy that my brother was able to go. He’s tremendously intelligent and he deserves to get a good education. Proud of him! I shot this with my old trusty Canon 10D, which was my first semi pro SLR. This second shot was just one of him overlooking the Chicago skyline…I really miss it!
