A Quick Stop At The Park

The other day I stopped at the park to see if there was anything interesting going on. Not much was happening but, these little guys were out so I decided to snap a few shots of them before hitting the road again….

Guest Post: Poetry By Toni Marie Parker

For …

I open my eyes for love…I thrive for you.

Every little ambition, every large undertaking, and every profound ground breaking is simply for you.

I leave my comfort, lose my grace, I am front runner in my chase… for you.

My smile is yours and the tears I taste are often replaced by your sweet whispers.

No one else can deliver. I shudder. I quiver.

Oooh… only for you. I am dumb. I am mad. I am numb.

You are my sun and moon, my December and June, my second, my week, you are my silence, my speech…

Everything I do… You. I close my eyes for love…

Colorized

Although I love black and white images, and I’ve been shooting them more and more lately, I’ve always been known for images full of bright, bold colors. Here are just a few shots of various color patterns from my most recents travels.

Katrelia: Untamed

I recently had the pleasure of working with one of the lovely ladies I first met and worked with when I moved to Columbus, Ms. Katrelia Gamble. Although it’s been years since we’ve last shot, I must say she keeps looking better with time! This particular session was very simple, just a test run to eliminate any rust. I can’t wait to do something much more creative with this young woman, and you can expect to see that very soon.

Allison Brantley: The Lost Bride

After 3 long years of waiting and communicating, I was finally able to shoot with the beautiful Allison Brantley. Her very helpful mother was there also, assisting in making sure things ran smoothly, acting as co artistic director 🙂 I really appreciated all of her help! Allison did a great job, and we all had a great time! Here are a few selections from our very first effort.

January & February Adventures

Good evening! It’s been a while since I’ve added anything new but, that’s because I’ve been quite busy lately. Right now I’d like to share just a few random images from some of my outings during the end of last month up until recently. Included is everything from, the out of the ordinary snowstorm that hit Georgia, to an older man who looks like a motorcycle rider preparing to surf in the cold river, to my photo excursion with my Aunt Robin, my son sleeping, and my neighbor walking her dogs. I have lots of new pictures that I’ve been working on very hard to share with everyone. I hope to have them up soon. Until then, I hope you enjoy!

Post Hair Cut

Thank God it’s the weekend! I hope everyone is enjoying it? While out enjoying yesterday’s warm weather my son finally let me take a shot of him after cutting off his dreads that he’d been growing for the past 2 years. He even gave me somewhat of a smile! He decided he was tired of “all that hair” plus, he wanted to look more grown up for his birthday coming soon. I can understand because, I did the exact same things a few years ago. But you know how kids are, he might grow it back soon?  Who knows?!

Keeping Baby Warm

Hello everyone! Today I’d like to share a few candid portraits of a man embracing his baby while outdoors on a cold afternoon. While out shooting randomly with my Aunt I noticed this man and his family trying to enjoy themselves despite the brisk weather. When I approached them I noticed the piercing dark eyes of the baby, so I moved in close to try and focus in on them. Just as I moved in to take the shot the father embraced his child and held him tightly to shield him from a strong burst of cold wind. The baby looked at me very inquisitively as I pointed my camera in his direction and snapped a few frames . Once the father realized what I was doing he graciously allowed me to shoot a few more shots of his entire family. They were very nice people, and the encounter reaffirms exactly why I love photography. Meeting nice, interesting people with open minds that allow us to do what we love without issue. Very spontaneous and fun!

Happy New Year/Bad Girl Tae

Happy 2014 to everyone all over the world! I wish you all peace, love and happiness!

As for me, I’m going to start the year the same way I ended it…by doing exactly what I want to do! What I want to do right now is share a black and white conversion of model Taelor Moore that I shot a few months ago. Taelor isn’t a “bad girl” at all, she a good girl. I chose the title simply because the shoot was inspired by Rihanna. We both love Rihanna and to me Taelor can bear a very close resemblance to the famous singer. Hey Taelor, if you’re reading this? We’re past due for another round! Let’s do it!!!

The Gathering Part #2

I know I’m a few months late but, here are a few more shots from a shoot I entitled “The Gathering” back in October. I know these geese and ducks usually avoid human contact unless we’re feeding them but, for some reason they were attracted to this man and his granddaughter. In fact, so many started to arrive and surround them that they had to get up and walk away. I was just happy that I actually had my camera with me to capture it. This set of photos are some of my favorite from this year. It’s because of the spontaneity of the moment as well as the child’s reaction. I love genuine moments!

Christmas Day Adventure

Merry Christmas to you all! I had a wonderful day today! I spent the day in unseansonably warm weather shooting with my aunt Robin. We were able to navigate the city in peace and quiet since most people were inside eating and celebrating with their families. Even more important than the pictures we were able to capture today was the experience of being out together as family enjoying each others company, and doing something we both love. Doing what you love is great but, doing it with someone you love makes it even better! Below is just a sample of some of the shots that I captured. I hope you enjoy them. Please be safe and enjoy the rest of your holidays!

Hoop Dreams

Happy Holidays to everyone! I met these 4 young men while out shooting with a model one day over the summer. They explained to me that they’re a rap group but, that they were also willing to do whatever they could to make it, even basketball. I let them know that they can achieve anything they put their minds to and to never limit themselves. They asked if I was a photographer, and I replied yes. They proceeded to quickly huddle together to give me their best poses. I snapped a couple of frames and showed them the pics on the lcd. They LOVED the pics, thanked me kindly, and I wished them all good luck and success in whatever they choose to do. I love meeting good people of all ages, and photography allows me to do so all while making a brief connection in the process.
