Friday Night Fire #2
Here’s another view of that huge warehouse fire that I shot Friday night. Be sure to watch it in HD for the best quality.
Local Photo Journalism
Below is the link to a story on a local fire Friday night that I provided photos and video for. Both the videos and photos are currently being run on WTVM News Leader 9 in Columbus GA. I don’t get to do this nearly as much as I would like but I have a deep love and respect for photo journalism. Using our cameras to help illustrate the news is an awesome power to possess! I would like to exercise mine more starting now!!! Who knows, I might actually get a fulfilling job as a news photographer? Taelor Moore Shoot #2
This is the first shot from our second meeting. I love the retro feel of this particular shot. I enjoyed this shoot. It was very peaceful and relaxed. I wish it could have lasted longer…
Fan Favorite
This pic has been very popular on my other social sites so I thought I’d share it here. I shot this on Mother’s Day while walking around the downtown area checking out the construction to the new white water rafting park. The child in the shot seems so tiny in retrospect.
Water Bottle Macro
I was sitting in the car about to take a drink from my bottle of water when I noticed the cool looking pattern of water starting to build up on the outside of the bottle. I quickly grabbed my phone and took these shots. The first, clear one was shot straight through the bottle, and the blue colored one was shot with the label in the background.
Nairobi Downtown
Here are a few more from the beautiful & colorful Nairobi Maloney.
Exploration Of Pretty Brown Eyes #1
I LOVE my daughters eyes! She gets her almond shaped extra light brown eyes from her mother and they are her stand out feature. I remember the day she was born, the nurse looked right at me and said, ” Oh my God, your daughter has the most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen!” I agree, and trust me, she definitely knows exactly how to use them to get whatever she wants from me!!! π So when I decided to try out macro photography on my phone my daughter was right by my side. I forgot to mention she’s also my biggest fan! I remember I had taken a shot of a plant, the sun was shinning bright to the right of me and she asked me if she could see the picture? When I looked up the sun was shinning in her eyes and it was at that moment I realized that I should dedicate a series of photos to her lovely eyes. Well this is just one of many…funny thing is, she thinks they look gross because of all the details visible! “You did a good job Daddy” “You always do, but, the picture looks gross and scary!” Kids are so funny!
iPhone Macro Series: Ladybug #1
Hello Apple?! Can you hear me? As an exclusive user of your products since 1998 I think I need some type of endorsement or sponsorship for this shot!!! π It’s no secret to those that know me that I love my Apple products and I love my iPhone 5! As a camera it has proven to be a very useful tool, and pictures like this reinforce my belief. While no phone in my opinion can match a dedicated DSLR, the quality that our phones are capable of producing now is astounding! To think of how far camera-phone technology has come and continues to progress so rapidly is really a revelation. There will always be room for bigger more complex gear and even dedicated compact cameras, which are also on par with DSLR’s now, but for fast, free wielding ease of use the smartphone is definitely an immediate option. While it’s not always about the camera, but rather the camera operator, hopefully shots like these will prove what’s possible with our smart-phones, especially when we exercise our ability and a little patience.
Destiny Mone At The Beach
It’s almost that time again! The weather is getting hotter and I’m reminded of one of my favorite shots from my one and only shoot with the gorgeous Destiny Mone a few years ago. This shot is interesting to me because, a group of guys were walking by admiring our shoot with some very cool surfboards so I had the bright idea to ask them if we could borrow it for a few frames? The guys were more than happy to agree, and long story short, this ended up being one of my most favorite shots of Destiny. Maybe one day we’ll have a chance to do it again? Summer fun…
Angela: The Red Coat Diaries
It’s Thursday so I thought I’d share a few of my favorite “throwbacks” I’m not really a fan of how the word throwback is being tossed around lately because I don’t consider things that are a few years old to be a true throwback but, in the spirit of having fun I will post a few of my favorite shots that were taken a few years ago. The first one is a selective color shot from a series with one of my favorite models, Angela. This shoot was a sequel to a series we shot a few years prior entitled, “The Red Coat Diaries” I loved the concept so much I decided to revisit it and shoot it from another perspective. In fact, there’s so many directions I’d like to go with it that I may do a few more sequels?! We’ll see..but until then enjoy!
iPhone Macro Series: Seed #1
I never knew how close the iPhone 5 could actually focus until recently, but upon discovering this I decided to create a series documenting my experimentation with smartphone macro photography. I’ve always used my phone as somewhat of a point and shoot like most people, and I figured this would give me a break from lugging around my usual heavy gear, freeing me up to shoot any and everything that interests me more easily. This first shot was taken right outside my front door. There’s a tree that grows these little black seeds (I have no idea what they’re called) that usually pop open during the summer so I decided to start testing there. I was trying to capture some nice details, which was very challenging because you have to try and stabilize the phone, but I think I did a decent job. When I looked at the picture I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was also some cool bokeh going on! Some people that aren’t familiar with photography terminology have asked me, “what in the world is bokeh?!” Simply put,Β bokeh is defined as the quality of the out-of-focus parts of a photograph. Wikipedia defines Bokeh as follows:Β βIn photographic terms,Β bokehΒ is the blur, or aesthetic quality of the blur in out-of-focus areas of an image, or the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of lightβ Too over simplify in regards to this particular picture, it’s the out of focus circles in the picture. Through my tests I’ve been quite impressed with bokeh that I’ve been able to achieve with the iPhone’s 2.4 aperture. The details were more than I expected as well once I loaded the pics onto the computer. The 8 mega-pixels of the phone were more than I hoped for, confirming for me that cell phones are now decent enough tools for simple photographic applications. You can expect to see much more from my experiments as I’ve been having so much fun doing this that I’ve already filled up half of my phone’s memory!!! I’m off to take more now! And remember, sometimes the best camera is the one who have with you! Get out and shoot!!!
Introducing Taelor Moore
What can I say about this young lady? Well, she’s tall, naturally beautiful, sweet, hard working, and intelligent! These are just some of the words I can use to try to describe her. She loves modeling, she loves fashion, and I believe she is talented enough to really do it if someone gives her an opportunity. I’m going to try my best to help her get where she wants to be so expect to see a lot of her on all of my social sites! With that said, here’s the first image from our very first meeting. All I can say is, WOW!!! Our chemistry was ridiculous!!! It was like we’ve known each other for years….it was so natural and seamless. Everything I asked of her she nailed on the first try! Not only that but she also brought her own poses and energy to the shoot which would make any photographer happy! This is just the beginning for us as we’re currently working on our 3rd test shoot and in my opinion they keep getting better and better! We are becoming an extension of each other’s expression…she is capable of bringing whatever ideas I have inside my mind to life and that is what I love about her. I’m very excited to see what the future holds for us both as partners but also for her as an individual. I would love to be apart of her success but, more importantly I’d like to just see her succeed. Hopefully the world will see in her what I already have the privilege of seeing!
Congratulations Dayah!!!!
It’s amazing how big she’s getting! It seems like just yesterday she was in diapers, not being able to talk or even crawl, and now look at her! Today we celebrated her very first graduation and I couldn’t be more happy and proud! I didn’t shoot a lot of pics because I was too caught up in the moment but, I will post more of what I did catch later. Great job little mama!!! You’re becoming such a big girl! π
Sun Peak Bridge
