Happy Anniversary To Me!!!
10 years ago I was just a kid with a dream and not much else. I wanted to take pictures like the ones I admired in magazines for years. I didn’t know how I would go about making that happen, I just knew that I had to find a way. Through many long, hard, frustrating nights, and after years of saving, sacrificing, and practicing I’m finally starting to make those dreams come true. This post is dedicated to me. This is for 10 years of highs and lows, love and hate, tragedies, failure, and triumph. Despite very little support, as well as no experience in this field I have struggled and taught myself how to fight through it all! In 10 years time I’ve watched photography explode in popularity. I see people jump on the bandwagon only to fall off soon after. I have experienced dishonesty, jealously, and disloyalty on a level I could have never prepared for or ever expected! Still, my love for creating remains. My passion for bringing the ideas that live inside my head to life has never diminished! Simply put, I love what I do!!! It took years to even realize that this is something I wanted to do, and even though I encounter people all the time that try and break my spirit I still have a deep love and appreciation for this….I’m so very grateful to able to do what I do! There’s so many artists that inspire me that deserve thanks. Special thanks to one of them, Mr. Shawn Dowdell. There are a few people close to me I would like to thank for helping make my dreams come true everyday. Terri White, Antonio Orsborn, Micha Robinson, and Nichele Washington, thank you all. I would also like to thank all the people that I inspire. Whether they admit it or not, I know that my work has helped some take steps towards their own artistic endeavors and that is an amazing accomplishment that I’m sincerely proud of!!! As I look back at this past decade I’m happy and humbled by how far I’ve come. I don’t know what the future has in store for me, but what I do know is that I look forward to consistently trying to elevate my skill in a field that I’m still very much a student of. Thank God for the strength, and vision. Thank you all for taking the time to share it with me. Robert N. Jones.
Robert,
Congratulations on reaching your 10 year mark. You have come a long way, and you have shot thousands of beautiful portraits. You work is super FAB and I am glad to have you as my favorite photographer. I know you will NOT let anything stand in your way. It is good to see a hard working Black man doing something positive for himself, family, and the community. You are a true example of someone who displays excellent work ethics. I am really happy for you and your accomplishments. You have many more excellent things coming your way. I will be sure to stay in tune. Congrats again….~Paula
